Stupid Criminals - The Borgata Incident

My all time favorite stupid criminal story is a local one. Two guys rob a bank. The police arrive at the scene a bit later and track them down in no time. How does this happen?

It was snowing the morning of the robbery and the police simply followed the prints in the snow since they made the getaway on foot.

What happened at the Borgata recently is a lot more creatively stupid. Our hero brings in counterfeit chips to a big money multi-day tournament at the Borgata. Fearful that he was "made" in his hotel room he flushes the remain stock of bogus chips down the toilet. Well for those of you that don't play real poker let me explain that chips are made out of this weird substance called plastic. Plastic has done a lot of good for this planet. It increases shelf life of food by keeping nasty little bacteria away, for example. At the same time it has caused a lot of harm to the planet. I'm thinking the Texas sized piece of plastic twirling around in the depths of the Pacific ocean. But for this story all you need to understand is that plastic takes a bit more than a few hours to degrade.

So after or hero's royal flush (God I love that pun) the plumbing gets clogged and water starts leaking into the hotel room below him. Maintenance is called, the bogus chips are found and he's busted.

What a senseless waste. These bogus chips could have been put to so much better use. There not real money. So the cosmic stupidity that goes on in the free money games of PokerStars could have used the economic jolt if they were put in play there.

The free money world economy has had too much beleaguering it recently. Like with the free troops military activity going on with Russia and the Ukraine. Have you no free money shame?
